They haven't made it to St. Louis, that I know of, however the "meeting
tonight" and "net tonight" messages get a little annoying once in a while
when you delete it, and it pops into your inbox 6 more times the same
evening.... Is there a way to make the D700 ignore them?

Easiest thing to do is to open the sourch of the email message and send
a message to abuse_at_(domain name) of the originating mail server. They
usually take those kinds of things pretty seriously and will shut down a
spammer fairly quickly (unless they're smart!)! He's probably been
booted from several ISP's already...

Another good one to handle this FOR you is spamcop.com...

Scott:

Start with this ISP:

http://blog.seniorennet.be/paintinghistory/archief.php?ID=40

That's his website. Chances are that he has a robot that is mining email
addresses from the internet.

I did a search using his callsign and, amazingly enough, the website was
publicized by the Ohio DX Newsletter (where I found the link).

IMHO the worst thing you can do is respond, as it proves to the spammer the
address is valid!

These are email, Ken, not APRS messages... What are you doing these days?

What's criminal is using a friction-fit connector - at least the DB9
has locking screws to keep it plugged up. Many problems I've had
with mobile APRS have been caused directly by a friction-fit
connector coming unplugged.

I am coming to despise USB, in part because of the easily dislodged
connectors.

There's always these:

http://www.usbfield.com/usb-field-connector.htm

There's no getting around the mini-DIN issue with the Deluo GPS unless you
just cut off the connector and add your own. Of course, you can always use
heat-shrink tubing and tie-wraps to secure it, too.

Any suggestions how to contact some one who is using 100hz PL from a fixed
station in the Buffalo NY area on 144.390mhz??? My mobile seems to open
the squelch periodically with a data burst. This is a new problem and
seems to be in a wide area of Western New York indicating a base rather
than a mobile station. Thanks.

look at the data that comes through with the audible burst and look
at the callsign?

I am talking about all the extra mass floating around, why not put a DIN
Male on a short pigtail from the PCB and do away with the DB9M on the
board and the DB9F and DIN male on the adapter cable.

Actually If you sold the board without the DB9 on it just pads for me to
solder the wires from the DeLuo I would buy a couple. I would take the
DeLuo Wire down to where the other are ziptied and either add a zip tie or
cut one of yours off and put another on to include the GPS Wire and then
heat shrink it.

Im guessing, but I think it has none of the special APRS digiepating modes,
so you will have to set it up as a WIDE1-1 fill in digi only.

MYALIAS WIDE1-1
MYNODE WIDE2-2
BTEXT !DDMM.hhN1DDDMM.hhW#W1,W2 only. comments
B E 10
UNPROTO AP9612
MYGATE WIDE1-1

Again, im shooting from the hip without full knowoldege of the 912, but the
above settings will allow it to do these things:

1) Beacon its position every 10 minues DIRECET only

2) It will digiepeat all W1-1 and W2-2 packets one hop only

3) It will gateway any D700 mobiles eoming in at 9600 on the UHF frequnecy
over to the 1200 baud channel

4) It will appear as s DIGI icon with an overlay of "1" showing that it is
a 1-hop only digi.

Tell all mobiles in the area to use the path of VIA WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 if your
area is a 2 hop area. If it encourages 3 hops then tell users to use VIA
WIDE1-1, WIDE2-2.

9600 baud users on the UHF channel should also use WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2 and they
will be cross linked from UHF at 9600 to he 144.39 at 1200

Hope that helps.

Yep, that's an issue. The big DB9 connector can be a pain (e.g. when
you're trying to put together a small, lightweight tracker for a balloon.)
I was just pointing out that there are worse things than big connectors.
Between some problems at work (computers in high-density situations like
server rooms) and at play (APRS mobile) I'm getting a real dislike for
non-locking connectors.

>Actually If you sold the board

I guess I should point out I'm not the Jason with the stuff for sale. I
think he (Jason ke4something) and I (Jason kg4something) have been confused
before. I know _I've_ been confused before. (: sorry, it's been a long
couple of days...

I need more info. Is voice being used on the APRS channel for long chats?
Is data being heard on a voice channel?
