They are fused power distributors originally intended for high-power car
stereo setups. Each one is a brass buss bar with four AGU cartridge fuse
holders and terminals attached. Normally these have clear plastic
covers revealing the cartridge fuses inside. I have glued labels onto
the clear covers calling out the load and current ratings of each
branch. You can see these blocks close up in the picutures of the
Jetta install on my site here:

The noise problem is identical to the Prius because the hardware is
identical to the Prius. (Ford buys the hybrid power system from
Toyota.) The problem is the same: 60KW of DC power flowing through
semiconductor switches is going to generate significant diode white
noise as well as the discrete birdies from harmonics of the switching
frequencies.......
This is part of the reason I replaced the Prius with my current Jetta
TDI turbodiesel.....

sorry for the OT post, but i'm looking for someone in the I-40 the southern
interstate to the LA area who might be driving to Dayton (crazy talk?) who
could handle stopping in St. Louis to take a box cables back home with them.
I'm willing to pitch in a few dollars for the trouble (or a 6 pack?).
thanks

I have been chacking here and have not seen a thing on either the
http://tracking.b2v.org or
http://b2v.fundu.com sites.
Looks like there is a problem.

I don't know about the first, but the second is findu.com, not
fundu.com!
If you are talking about the relative lack of activity, I do believe
the race kicks off in the evening to avoid the heat...

Well, there is definitely no heat to worry about this year!
We currently (4:40 PM Pacific) have chains required in the mountain passes
north of L.A. due to the rain and snow storm we had yesterday. (For those
of you from the Midwest and Eastern flatlands, the California Highway
Patrol mandates tire chains in the mountains and passes during and after
severe weather, and will actually stop and ticket cars without them)
It's currently only 65 F in Pasadena and 71 in Las Vegas.....

OK, Guys
The site just says they start at 11:30 on April 21, 2007 at www.b2v.org.
Poor assumtion on my part that it was prior to noon rather than 11:30 pm :)
I will be watching.
