How did you get it compiled? That's just where I'm going. I have a
NSLU2 unslung (aka Embedded Linux on an external old laptop hard disk)
that's ready for Digi_ned and other ham tools. A simple serial port
via USB adapter should be the low hanging fruit easy way to get this
on the air.
Thanks,

Digi_ned has always been the ultimate digipeater Linux application.
UI-View is the replacement EPROM.

A great deal of convenience and power indeed - but not quick and easy to
setup on a NSLU2... I'm up against a bit of a time crunch and I'd also
like to get an "easy" process where folks can use this alternate hardware
without having to fight the kernel battle. That's a waste of time in this
day and age that's even less appealing then mandated CW requirements or
discussing APRS paths.

Great to see some on going support for AX25..

It has been a while, but from what I remember, I set up the openwrt
development environment. This was very easy -- they had a makefile that
would download the latest tools and set them up all automatically. Then you
build the openwrt linux kernel. Once you know that works, there was a simple
way to just compile anything through the cross compiler that was installed.
Let me know (off list) your build environment and if you're using something
like openwrt and I'll see if I need to get back into the project to figure
out what I did.

Subject: [aprssig] APRS Symbols for severe nature events
A couple of months ago, there was a discussion here (or perhaps merely
an opinion exchange) of possible new symbols.
Should one reserve one symbol for special scout categories other than
gender designator (why would one need even that one, I ask, being a scout
myself, and married to a scout); should one introduce a skier; well, some
handfuls of postings went to the list at that time.
I would (after recent nature events with great impact, at least for road
and railway traffic) hope there were a possibility to make a symbol for
_landslide_ and _avalanche_ (maybe one and the same symbol?). There are
possibly even other nature events missing a symbol as well.
(BTW, I have made a change in the two scout symbols; my version is a mini
version of the WOSM - World Organization of the Scout Movement - logo, and
a version of the WAGGGS - World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts
- logo; avaliable together with the else unchanged version H for UI-View at
my web place - link from <http://la2bba.jpharo.net>)

I wouild favor a generic Road-Blockage symbol. Would look like two posts
with two horizontal boards that are black-and-whilte striped at an angle
and maybe a red NOT circle on top for color?

Does it matter that avalanches and land slides sometimes occur off-road?

That would do for landslides/avalanches which are "merely" blocking
roads and tracks, but those which are wiping out communities, like
floods and tornados, thus making a SAR area, mightn't be covered by a
road block symbol.
Btw, the european "no entry" traffic sign is a white or yellow
circular sign with a red ring at the edge, and no symbol inside.
(I made an object with a red triangle overlaid with an "X" to mark a
landslide this winter)
But there still are some unused / and \ combinations, so it wouldn't
be an impossible task to find one or two symbols.
