Hi..
I have not tried that personally, but over on the UiView list, one or
two others have, and report that UiView does work well on Vista32, so
long as you use the appropriate privelages and rights. I think someone
reported you can start programs in some sort of compatability mode too,
much like NT, 2k and XP can for older software (as you mention) then it
works just fine..

Subject: [aprssig] Garmin Etrex cable question
I am going to purchase a Garmin Etrex to use with my D700 Kenwood. I called
the ham store and was trying to order the unit and the cigarette lighter
power cord / computer all in one cable. It is listed as an accessory in the
manual. The store did not know which one to order. They told me I needed the
part number. So, my question is - does anyone know what the part number is
for this cable?
Thanks & 73

I would suggest you make one....It will be much cheaper than buying one.
Possibly this page will help;

This should cover it between the DIY and buy it ready made.
I'm using the Gilsson cables and am very happy with them.

I also suggest don't buy the high dollar cable from Garmin - they must make
their money on accessories. The connector on the eTrex end is the hardest
part of making your own. The ones from Garmin and some other suppliers will
slip out easily, but I got one from Blue Hills that has a locking tab. It
fits into the little indentation on the case and holds quite well - unless
you break it off!

I have made the flat eTrex cables out of old credit cards. I have a
drawing if you want. Just send me an email off-line.

I've got nothing against their products... it's the distribution model (and
to some extent the annoying website) that bugs me. There seem to be too
many distributors, and not all of them seem to take it as seriously. And
the website really could use some cleanup - every page seems to have
unrelated information scattered around, oddly-formatted tables, and
generally confusing layout.
Compared to some ham websites, though *cough*aes*cough*hro* they're really
not so bad, I guess. =]
