Hi to all on the forum thanks again for all the many emails, for those of
you who do not have the specialized manual here are the links to kenwood
site for all that you need on the tm-d700a.

In my next email we will go through the steps how to clean all the tnc with
error showing up on aprs, i will show you every detail what to do before we
start to set up the tnc,in fack the correct way is TNC PKT this is what you
see on the console.

All tnc of kenwood have to be reset in order to clean the tnc while the
radio is working good from the console the tnc is not at it best because of
aprs packet virus have it not at it best, time and time again lot of us have
been making mistake by using various in the terminal mode to reset all type
of tnc especially tm-d700a this is wrong and not tne correct way in fact you
are only putting the tnc closer to the edge in a build up of packet viruses.

Yes i rest my tnc with APRS+SA,WINPACK,WINAPRS in terminal mode well the
reset is waste of time no way this can be cleaned,it will not be done in
the correct way.

NEXT EMAIL HOW TO CLEAN MY TNC THE RIGHT WAY AND RIGHT WAY ONLY.

The AvMap G4T GPS for APRS:

For what it's worth, I finally got around to hooking up an AvMap G4T GPS to
my D700 and wow, it is impressive. But then I havent bought a GPS in 8
years...

What I really like is that it came with instructions for setting up APRS
and that its interface was designed with APRS and the D7/D700's in mind.
Just set the GPS to APRS interface and plug into the Kenwood and you will
see other APRS stations and mobile ICONS on its map. But unlike other
GPS's that do this, the G4T uses two different ICONS, one for fixed and the
other for moving stations. Makes it real easy to see the mobiles.

Also, I didn't know that the big display is really a TV screen with either
NTSC or PAL audio/visual inputs. Thus it can be hooked up to a "backup
camera" or a 2.4 GHz wireless camera receiver or a VCR or DVD player for
that matter. Lots of potential here.

Hook the display up to your Kenwood SSTV converter and you get a much
larger display and can send camera images over the radio to others. See
the original AVRS concept: http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/aprn.html

Now I see why Kenwood has been advertising it as a companion to the D7 and
D700 on QST. Great combo!

Subject: [aprssig] PCSAT tracking on APRS screens

I have a linux box running predict, which is NTP and KEP updated constantly.

I have confirmed with several satellite tracking sources that my data is
correct.

The object to look out for is "PCSAT" from "VK4TEC"

A perl script wakes up and sends the position of PCSAT once a minute.

Regards.

Subject: [aprssig] Fwd: RE SETTING YOUR TNC

After this email you all will never make the same mistake twice hi hi,no
software weather it is UI-VIEW,APRS+SA,WINAPRS,AGWTRACKER,LINK 700,these
software cannot reset any tnc with packet virus, the various software will
show you it do the reset, still in the tnc is packet virus.

Ok look at a tnc having packet virus,no way these software in terminal
mode can fix the tnc, you put a tnc with packet virus on any one of the
software in terminal mode see if it can reset the tnc no they cannot do the
reset.

The only true and correct reset is via HYPER TERMINAL on any windows
95/98/2000/ME/XP
This is the only way to clean and remove packet virus from any tnc, this is
base on experience and doing it time and time again.

While in hyper terminal you can do packet, chat mode, you can go into your
friend mail box drop him a mail, console mode packet chat hi all this you can
do while still doing aprs,we will need how for the tm-d700a to cooperate
with the th-d7 hand held radio,it is called the mail box cooperation
between 700a and d7 hi hi very important issue base on d7 limitation in the
tnc.

A big question the tnc mail box while in aprs you have 15 SSID in the
tm-d700a mail box you need to give it a call as show in previous email all
mail box carry SSID-1, this can be discuss when we start to program the tnc
..

A next big problem hi fellows hams all of you who are running the radios in
TNC PKT mode fellows you are actually running the radio in tnc mode, yes but
Julien I am running it with UI-view in kiss mode, yes my friend even in kiss
mode you tnc need to be set right so guy how do you fix it that is the
entire ham community problem we all have to play our part, and get it
corrected.

Running the TNC PKT mode with any software in kiss mode you still have the
radio in tnc ,the tnc parameter need to be adjusted these radios are real
special radios very and nice,so care must be maintain.

The built-in TNC in the TH-D7A, or TH-D7A(G)is a very simple. Its
primary function is used for the DX Packet Cluster, and Kenwood Sky
Command. Its function is very limited, and does not support full duplex,
and PSK. It only has the hardware flow, and not transparent mode. It
does not send binary files.

------------------------------------

TH-D7A, AG / TM-D700A TNC reset.

A) Start Hyperterminal from Windows and set it for the correct port and at
same speed as set for access in packet, while PC is connected to TH-D7A,
AG/ TM-D700A via the PC connection on the side of the TH-D7A, AG./
TM-D700A

B) Turn on Packet Mode in the TH-D7A, AG / TM-D700A by pressing the TNC
Button for about 1 second and then you see TNC PACKET in the top left
corner of the TH-D7A, AG display TNC parameters should now be accessible.

C) Perform a TNC RESET command via the hyperterminal screen (i.e. type
RESET). THIS IS NECESSARY BECAUSE THE TH-D7A, AG TM-D700A NEVER RESETs THE
TNC, NOT EVEN DURING A FULL RADIO RESET.
