Subject: [aprssig] D7 question

Does anyone know why my D7 only lists one station in all the memory spaces
when I press "List". Anyone have any idea how to get all the stations to
list instead of just one repeatedly? I must have done something to change my
settings, but not sure what?

Please reply to cbouck01_at_twcny.rr.com so I do not tie up the reflector.

Thanks

I have had this happen to me a couple times in the past. On 2 separate D7
Radios.

Backup your memories and radio config via the MCP program, perform a FULL
reset of the radio, and restore your config, and your back in business.

I have yet to understand what causes it, but it is easy to recover from.

I prefer top posting. I've already read the rest and don't want to
go through it all again.

Has anybody heard of ignoring the trolls, not flaming other members, and
perhaps keeping discussion in some way related to APRS?

Sometimes trolls need to be flamed, although I thought my message was more
of a suggestion about trimming quoted text and not top-posting than a
flaming. Some will take a hint about trimming quoted text and others won't.
Top posting a one liner and leaving a dozen paragraphs below is just bad
manners whether it is on topic or not. Besides, I love the smell of burning
troll in the morning! Yes, it would be nice to keep it on topic. I can go
elsewhere if I want to read about how to build antennas, how to repair
refrigerators etc. unless they are APRS enabled. Let's talk about APRS.

It appears that the TTARL guys may have figured some things out about the
Kenwood TM-D700. Do I understand correctly that they are running D700's in
standalone APRS mode and packet TNC mode simultaneously? Interesting.

Take a look at: http://www.ttarl.org/mgxroot/page_10771.html

Two suggestions... isn't there a range filter in the D7, and what lat/long
do you have entered in your D7? A friend recently ran into what might be the
same problem. He has just put up a weather station, and a buddy with a D7
standing right beside him couldn't see the data from the weather station,
but I could see it from over 100 km away. The fellow with the D7 figured it
out the next day. He has a position entered into the D7 that was a few
hundred km away and had a range filter set for 50 km or something like that.
As soon as he entered the proper lat/long, the missing weather station
showed up the next time it beaconed. Is that what you are seeing?

You just have to remember that some people take ANY suggestion or criticism
as a flame, regardless of how it was originally meant.

I don't care for top-posting, either. Most of the messages on an email
list are multiple-paragraph, and when somebody gives a top-post reply, it
can be REALLY confusing trying to figure out just which paragraph the reply
concerns. In my opinion, trimming and bottom posting is better, and
another possibility is interspersing multiple replies in the quoted text.

Changing the subject line is another GREAT improvement! <G>

BTW, <G> indicates a grin, like a smiley, meaning let's all laugh at
this...
