Not forever. The battery is a 6 volt lantern battery with a two year
shelf life. They say with a 15 minute interval the life should match
the shelf life. Of course, a battery could well last longer than its
shelf life, but at some point even with no drain it will fail.

Even at two years, that amount to $6 a year, not enough to break even
the cheapest ham ;-)

Ok, got some tide support working. Xtide uses a full test lookup, which is
a real pain for URLs, so my code uses an index number. To search for a
keyword, use this URL:

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/tidestation.cgi?name=cudjoe

You can also find the nearest to a callsign with

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/tidestation.cgi?call=k4hg

or a given location with

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/tidestation.cgi?lat=24.6&lon=-81.5

Comments and suggestions welcome...

That is exactly the reason findU has prohibition against screen scrapers,
and automatic detection of same. If you create a site useful to humans, a
handful will abuse it by creating simple scripts that use your resources to
save themselves a little effort...
