Ok, that made me go and get my shop manual and actually look...
There are actually _two_ GPS units in my car. The on for OnStar is part of
the cell antenna on the roof. The one for the nav system is inside the nav
control box and its antenna is under the rear window deck.
Who knew?
So, you're right, everything said about the Onstar system does not apply.
You're looking for a hack to open the nav box and get to the GPS signals
inside.

Anyone else not able to get a topo or aerial image from the internal links
section of FINDU for a station, the maps are black and just say GEO file
not found.

Steve Dimse told us yesterday (22 august) that the FindU system will be
moved "tomorrow", which is today (23 august).

AGWPE or MIXW do TCP/IP on packet in the windows world. The AX25 packet
system allows TCP/IP on packet in the linux world. Either is a bit of a
challenge but should work well if one works through the learning curve.
JNOS would give you the basic functionalty on either system.

Subject: [aprssig] OK, one more question, PK-88
Thank you all very much for your help on my APRS and W98! Your suggestions
were invaluable and my demo on an old machine is ready to go.
As I was playing with the PK88, I noted that the manual I have (which
included some 1989 updates) didn't include some of the TNC's
commands. This is probably off-topic because the commands really don't
affect APRS..... I'm just curious what some of the commands do, they're
not all intuitive.
But....
If someone has any information on the PK-88's final upgrade, and willing to
answer some questions, please contact direct ( jw_at_desnews.com ) so we
don't bore the rest of the list!
Thanks!

Yes. That's a fine example of the problems we had too, before RELAY and
WIDE were made completely obsolete in North America (at least).
Things are much better now with the NEWn-N paradigm in effect. It's easy
too, only needs a few settings updated.

Arrrgh ! The obsolete .MIL url for Bob's site just refuses to die!
The proper (and current) domain is .EDU.
http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/aprs.html
or via direct IP (some users outside the US can't resolve the domain name):
