Now, Drew tells us he hasn't got one, but I could say (for other male hams
_very_ active with APRS operations during a car trip): She's behind the
wheel, driving the car. 'cause the ham radio operator wouldn't have the
time to concentrate on driving while operating the laptop.

What would happen when your car is stopped from 60 m/h to zero in half
a yard? Or hit hard from right in a crossing?

Same for Xastir. It drops them if the connection isn't up.

For what it's worth, there _are_ touch-screen drivers for X11. I've
run Xastir and Linux with a couple of different types of
touch-screens. They worked fairly well.

It and everything else riding loose in my car would become deady
projectiles. Probably the same danger as if it was bolted down.

Those are pretty good. I have one in my Suburban. Also use a Gamber-Johnson
in the Chevy Trailblazer... more expensive but a big difference in
quality/constuction. Only thing is with the Gamber you cannot have someone
sitting in the front seat (in the Trailblazer) and there is a big caution
sticker to remind you!

Jotto is no problem with a passenger...

Subject: [aprssig] Jotto Desk for Jeep

Has anyone put a Jotto Desk into a Jeep Grand Cherokee (specifically a 1997
TSi)? I see their webpage lists them for the Sport, but nothing for the
Grand Cherokee. All this discussion on laptop mounts has rekindled me to
get a laptop into my truck ASAP.

Thanks,

Mike
