I really don't understand all the fuss about someone asking for a payment for
details of something they have designed.

For years various people have made a great deal of money from radio amateurs
from donations for software and hardware. The baycom group, for instance, made
a small fortune selling their software and modems as did F6FBB and the author
of winpack etc. without all this fuss. Nothing wrong with people trying to
recover their cost, why do some amateurs always expect everything for nothing?
They could after all sell their designs or software to a commercial company
where you would have to pay a damnn site more than they are asking.

Get real, you have no right to anything for free just because it was
designed/written by a radio amateur. I'm only surprised anyone offers anything
to fellow radio amateurs knowing the agro they get when they do.
