Well AO-40 was fairly stationary in the sky at apogee, more so that AO-10
and AO-13 were. 

Geostationary and amateur is highly unlikely! First, as a pure amateur 
sat, you wont get JAMSAT and AMSAT-VK to fund a bird if it will live over
Europe only, why should they pay  if they never get to use it? Similarly,
EU hams wont be too keen on funding a sat that spends its life over the
Pacific. So Molniya orbits are the way to go. That way everyone gets a 
chance to play and gets a window when the sat is reasonably stationary.
