SO-50 worked ( very short ). I received signals ( start listening
20:34:00 UTC 26092003 ORB 4119, EL 17 degree and lowering, LOS ).
After my 'CQ satellite' GI0VKP ( IO74OC ) came back hi
( 20:34:40 UTC ), MA phase 46 AF.
He mentioned his name ( Bob ) and told me he lived in the neighbourhood
of Belfast. He gave 5&5, the same as I did hi.
I used this evening a very old FM trx TM231E ( TX mode, because of the
required mode J ) and ofcourse a sub ( going into the trx, coming from the pc,
running an audio prgr. ).
Unfortunately the sat suddenly became 'silent', because of an error
with the subtoon ? Perhaps I did not wait long enough ( talk start,
perhaps it is necessary to transmit first a carrier for a short time
only with the sub on it, waiting till the sat TX is working ) ?
Or a new activation by the control station did not exist ?
By the way : used ERP was low, so also there is a possibility the sat
did not receive my signals later on ..... ( LOS situation, higher
QRB values etc. ).
However, it was a very nice experience working this small ( and 'fast' )
satellite !
