Perhaps I'm mistaken here Neil, but if there are 9600bps (bits per second)
then in 1 second there are 9600 bits and in 1ms there are 9.6 bits.

If there are 9.6 bits / ms then in 300ms there are 9.6 * 300 = 2880 bits.

With 8 bits/byte (9k6 is synchronous so no start/stop bits) we get
2880/8 = 360 bytes.

Which looks sort of 10x smaller and sort of what I said originally. Please
explain how you get 3k bytes?
