Subject: Receiver tests on DJ G7

OK it seems that there is a fair amount of interest in this handheld.
Since the rig boasts wide band rx coverage I thought I'd put it to
the test.

MW/HF broadcast.
----------------

Excellent. Best handheld so far. Better than my VX7R. A few metres of wire
works well. Copes well with overload. Use of an ATU or a small tuned whip
similar to Miracle Whip gives excellent results. Yes it is possible to
overload the front end, but I can do that down the beach with my Icom
HF tranceivers.

I was easily copying the Bletchley Park special event station using
3.605 _AM_, and the usual AM nets on 160m. WWCR on 5.070Mhz was as good
on the G7 as it was on my FT817. (You just gotta try Info Wars and
the Armchair Survivalist programmes after 0200 GMT,totally nuts!).

Medium Wave works fine too.
If you are into adventures in amplitude modulation then it's a great rx.

SCANNER STYLE VHF/UHF
---------------------

Excellent. Very sensitive. Works great 30Mhz and up. 50Mhz seems to
suffer a bit from 150Mhz pager crud though. Everything else seems fine.
Excellent reception on 70Mhz band. Band 2 FM broadcast, UHF tv and
everything else.

The rig really does make a great general purpose rx,much better than
the other rigs I've tried.
