5w on 2/70 and 1w on 23cm.

I was looking at some power modules for 23cm.

Some requiring milliwatts input for about 18w out for about 50 quid.

Just add volts and connectors.

Sandpiper Aerials have 20 turn helix antennna with a claimed 17db gain
for easy money too.

I suppose it's too expensive and not as easy to work dx up there.
Unless you live on a mountain then even spending 1000's is unlikely to
make much impact.

I don't see myself ever making conctacts at home, only when out /P.

But hey - it's amateur radio, trying to se how much we can do with
whatever we can get our hands on I suppose.

One ltle niggle I have, why oes the UK version NOT come with an empty
battery case ? Do amateurs in the UK only never use them, or is it
another ruse to squeeze a few more quid out of us ?

When you're already paying nearly 400 quid, I expect the pennies worth
of plastic to come as standard.
