You can make long distance qsos 24/7 on 50MHz... just use the meteors. Modes
like JT44 mean you dont even have to have a clue about what to do unlike
the old MS days.
Just remember that the old BMEWS sites in the lates 50's were linked on freqs
near 50MHz. They used ancient "dinosaur" technology to communicate via MS
and were ale to support the equivalent of around 9k6bps data rates. When you
remember that you only have a few minutes to get your "incoming warheads"
messages back to SAC in Omaha from Flyingdales, you'll realise how reliable
MS on 50MHz is.
