General information.
Galapagos Isl. HC8. Jon N0JK, writes; I will be at the HC8N station Nov
19 - 25, 2003. Will monitor 6M "all the time" I'm there including the
CQ WW CW Contest period. The HC8N 6M stations is a TS-90 and 6M7JVH ya-
gi 17 meters high. Some of the ops plan to arrive a few days earlier,
but their operating time may be limited due to preparing the HC8N sta-
tion for the contest. May try JT44 for 6 and 2M EME, WSJT for 2M meteor
scatter and operate AO-40 SAT. Will be on 2M SSB/CW for evening TEP.
Hope we get some F2 and can work everyone who still need the Galapagos.
Jon N0JK
Success at Perigee ;-) Lance W7GJ writes; I am pleased to report that
JT44 worked its magic again this morning ! Even though only one day
from APOGEE, ES8X and I completed a FB 6m JT44 contact on their moonset
It was my 6m DXCC #71 ;-) The last seven new countries for me on 6m ha-
ve been made by working single yagi stations on their moonset, using
JT44. ES8X is a VHF/UHF DXpedition to Kihnu Island (KO18xc) being put
on by the Viimsi Radio Club (ES2WX). This portable operation involves
operators ES2NA, ES2QH, ES2RJ, ES1DW, ES2EZ, ES1LAA and ES1TGO. They
will be QRV until August 6. Their main activity was for the Estonian
Open Field Day contest. At least two station setups (maybe three) will
be active on different frequencies for HSCW,FSK44. We are ready also
to try tropo and EME skeds using JT44. In request we are able to take
skeds from VHF net on 14.345 MHz, or send a short E-mail es2na@erau.ee
100 characters max, or if we can receive any Packet Cluster on the
island then this way is also OK. Separate setup with modem and antenna
will be installed for that purpose.
It truly is amazing how weak signals can be and how easily you can copy
once you reach the stage where only 2 (or fewer) character messages are
being exchanged ! So, the required "RO" and "RR" went by so quickly we
had to continue with "73" and "TU" ;-) I can't wait to see how many new
countries I can work in 2 weeks when we have PERIGEE ! GL VY 73, Lance

Myanmar, XY. Frank, DL4KQ writes; Hi, we will run a beacon during our
dxpedition. The exact frequency will be announced on the dx-pedition
page after our arrival at Myanmar. That means we will check the local
frequency situation and will choose the best one. When having no eme
skeds the beacon will run with 400 W to a 17 ele fixed to Europe. The
frequency will be monitored the complete time. Best 73`s Frank, DL4KQ

Greenland, OX. Birger OZ1GER/OX3UB writes, that he will be QRV from
Sismiut GP36DW as OX3UB from Aug. 7 th. to Aug. 16 th. OX3LX will not
participate as previous announced. QSL info is via his OZ call OZ1GER.
Maritime Mobile. W4OV Bruce, writes; I will be operating 6 mtrs in the
evening from a 36 ft sailboat in the Marquesas Islands and Dry Tortugas
Isl - 70 miles west of Key West Florida EL84 August 4-9. de W4OV Bruce
