Burundi, 9U. 9U5D As Beacon I like to inform you that I have my IC-706
working as a Beacon on 50072.0 when I am not in my Shack. I have redu-
ced power output to 20 Watts to not heat up the transceiver too much.
The antenna is a 3 el. beam I direction North. The Beacon sends a se-
ries of bips; followed by callsign, 9U5D. Pls report heard to:
9u5d@winlink.org This E-mail comes to me via Short Wave Ham E-mailing

a six meters equipement he will receive around the 11th. The antenna
will arrive very soon. He hopes to be QRV at the end of this month.

Lord Howe Isl., VK9. Steve VK3OT, writes; I am planning dxp to VK8OT
Darwin and maybe VK9 Lord Howe island in next 6 weeks. Details shortly
Also I have processed most cards for Feb 3rd opening, but am having
trouble getting addresses for the following stations: 0758z 9A4HK,
   07:55z 9A7WV, S51DY 0808z, ON5NT 08:23z, SP8UFT 08:28z, ON5PU 08:31z,
   DK2PH, DL7BU, DL8AK, 0834z-0836z: DJ6RX 08:45z, IW1CCS but now know
that was IW1CCH. All I1 cards gone to IW1DIM thanks. Also does anyone
know the status of YZ4IZ with Bosnia qth in CBA is he legit qso with
Bosnia for DXCC purposes? Also YU1IU cant email him for details either
Some EUs must update their QRZ/Buckmaster listing, one French guy has
different addresses and LOC in either entry. There are probably call
sign miscopies in the lot above and also a couple of partials with OE
stations, so email if you can prove your claim with time and the rst
   that I sent you.

Canada, VE. A QSP from Dana VE3DSS, says; Please find the following
sent by Ray Perrin VE3FN, who lives in Ottawa, Ontario,Canada in FN25.
This should make many more European and North American 6 m ops happy,
provided the propagation gods are with us! hi WSL's GO TO VE3FN.....
"I am scheduled to return to Iqaluit (FP53) next Monday (Feb 11) and
I plan to return to Ottawa the following Monday (Feb 18). I plan to
have 100 Watts on HF (40 through 10 meters) as well as 100 Watts on 6
meters and 3 Watts on 2 meters. I will again be using the call VY0AAA.
I will be bringing a small 2-el beam for 6 meters that I just built
(the wood boom is 4 feet long) and it also uses telescopic antennas
for the elements. And I have a back-up 6 meter wire dipole. As I'm
there to work, I will generally not be available during business hours
I will likely return to the apartment for lunch between 12 and 1 (1700
to 1800 Z) and I will try to check out 6 meters. But the best opportu-
nity for 6 meter F layer will likely be on the weekend (Feb 16, 17).
I hope to work as many as I can. But all logging will be on paper (not
computer) so I may not be too swift if I have a pile up. I will do my
   best. 73 Ray Perrin VE3FN, VY0AAA

Bahamas Isl., C6. Mike, WA2VUN, and Gene, K2KJI, will be heading for
the Grand Bahamas on February 11. They will have stations set up in
separate condos. Mike will operate as C6AJF and Gene as C6ALC. This
will be a family vacation so operating time will be limited. Simple
wire antennas will be used and Mike will have a go at 6 meters with a
6 meter dipole. QSL home calls direct or via the bureau. (QSP de The

17,080 kM and five new countries for me. Cards in the mail, many new
countries for me and 97 clean qsos from Jan 1 1990 to date. People just
send sae and card no money ok? Also note VK3SIX beacons have been shut
down until we clarify a recent ruling that unmanned pirvate beacons
breach rules in VK. As a precaution against an over zealous Radio
Policeman I have shut the beacons off. They tx for 10 years and con-
sumed 10mW of power costing $1700. Steve.

Cocos Island, TI9. One of the TI9M Cocos Island team members, N4CD,
Bob, is trying to debunk some rumors that have been circulating. He
says expedition leader, TI2HMG, Henry, does have a class A license,
not class B as rumored, and the entire group will be authorized to
operate - not just Henry as had been rumored. The group plans to be
QRV as TI9M Feb17-Mar2. Their web page is http://www.qsl.net/ti9m/.
