St. Lucia, J68AS. I will be heading back to St. Lucia for the SSB WPX
contest and plan to be active on 6 meters. Will arrive on March 21 and
hope to be QRV by March 22. Will be QRT on April 2. Will avoid the 10
meter net, as it really left a bad taste in my mouth from my Y2K trip.
The site has over-water views to the US and Europe from about 120M ASL
Here is hoping conditions keep on hanging in there. QSL to my home call

Virgin Isl., KP2. I will be visiting the US Virgin Islands to operate
in an HF contest at the end of March this year. I was thinking about
interesting bands or modes to operate outside of the contest, and 6m
came to mind. The location is on a 1,000 ft hilltop with an unobstruc-
ted view of ocean toward JA, US, and EU. I might be operating an amp-
lifier capable of 1000W on 6m. I would need to purchase and construct
an antenna (perhaps a 5-el yagi). Unfortunately, I am not very fami-
liar with 6m, and don't know whether an operation like this would be
of interest to the 6m community. How good is propagation typically in
late March/early April in this point of the sunspot cycle from the
Caribbean to EU and US? Is KP2 common on 6m? Before I purchase 6m
equipment for the trip, I just wanted to find out from experienced 6m
operators whether this sounds like a worthwhile effort or a waste of
time. Thanks in advance for your advice. 73 Dean N6DE dwood@cisco.com
