This documentation will show how it works with Windows and the PC/Flexnet package.
First of all get your radio hardware running with PC/Flexnet which can be obtained at http://www.afthd.tu-darmstadt.de/~flexnet. Then add the virtual IP-adapter with Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add Hardware. Choose “Yes, I have already connected the hardware” and click “Next”.
Choose “Add a new hardware device” and click “Next”.
Choose “Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)”.
Choose “Network adapters” and click “Next”.
Click on “Have disk”.
Locate “ipover.inf” in subdirectory “IP W2k_XP” of your PC/Flexnet installdirectory and press “Open” (“ipax.inf” in “IP W9x” for Windows95/98/ME).
Press “OK” and “Next”.
Press “Next” and “Continoue Anyway”.
Now you finished installtation of the TCP/IP over AX.25 adapter. Now start “Network Connections” from the Control Panel and doubleclick your new Local Area Connection with Device Name “IPOVER Network Adapter”.
Click “Properties” and choose “Properties” for the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”.
Choose option “Use the following IP address” and insert a random IP-number out of the testing pool 44.128.x.y/16 (x,y = 1-254). Pres “OK” and “Close”.
Now start your PC/Flexnet Control Center and Press “Tools → IP-Routes”. You will be asked for IP to AX.25 - Parameters. Enter your callsign with default SSID -10 for IP-over-AX.25 and check “Send UDP in VC” (ICMP and UDP will be send in connected mode). If this window will not appear choose “Edit → Mycall/Parameters” in IP routes.
Now set the default route to use with “Edit → Default route”. In most cases it is the best way to use IGATE as AX.25 call and your local digipeater as “via”. IGATE supports VJ-header compression so you can choose option “Virtual Circuit with TCP compression” and press “OK”.
Now open the Trace window from the Flexnet Control Center with “Tools → Trace” and a DOS box with “Start → Run… → cmd”. Type “ping 44.130.60.100” and have a look on the Trace window. The connection should be established and ICMP-Echo requests should be send out and replyed. Further a new route will be added automatically in IP-Routes.
Congrats. Now you can reach TCP/IP-services of DB0FHN and others. E.g. you can type “http://44.130.60.100” into your webbrowser and get the mainpage of DB0FHN.
