Hello, Roger, Sara, and Peter and anyone else reading along.
Peter, you answer each message individually but I don't do
that well.
It is so good to see reports from all of you. Roger, I'm very
pleased to see a posting from you. I hope you will become a
regular.
Sara and Roger are the gardeners I think. Peter, you and I--
well, we just don't have green thumbs. Maybe Maria has better
luck with plants. But, you did tell Sara that you have some
raspberries. When Roger lived in our area, he kept flowers
growing in my flower bed. I remember he told a friend of ours
that he had just set out 40 plants in my flower bed. And, he
had, and I'm sure his back didn't feel so good the next day.
Today we got some pictures from him showing the huge hibiscus
bushes growing at his house that are covered with beautiful
red blooms.
Peter and Sara, you talked about fairs in your messages. The
large area fair in our neighboring town of Springfield, MO just
closed yesterday. The extreme heat took its toll on the attendance
this year I think. Two days they opened a couple of hours later
than usual, and two nights they stayed open several hours later
than normal. It was more comfortable for people to go out in
the evening.
One of my fondest memories of my public school days is attending
the county fair that was held in October. The weather in East
Texas in October was delightfully cool. At night we could wear
our new fall sweaters, meet our friends from school, and enjoy
the lights, sounds, and smells of the midway. That was before
TV, internet, IPods, Smart Phones, and all the other gadgets that
young people have now to occupy their time. I'm glad I didn't
miss the simpler times. We enjoyed looking at all the local
exhibits, and anticipating the taste of those good smelling
hamburgers at the food stands.
Peter, I was thinking that it wouldn't be long before Maria would
be heading back to Brazil for the winter months. I hope you do
get to make the trip this year.
Sara, we are always so pleased when we see you connected to the
BBS. We hope it continues to work well for you. Perhaps we
can hear from you more often now. We still are under a heat
advisory for the rest of this week, but maybe next week will
begin to be cooler. We had a little over an inch of rain last
Thursday, but nothing since. So, it was outside with the watering
hose for me this morning. Peter, I don't have a sprinkling
system either.
Roger, I'll be watching for you on the packet net tonight.
Again, so good to see messages from all of you.
73, Billie
