But why would you want to programme the radio's memories when HRD can store
bazillions more frequencies than your radio can?
Think about it ('coz you haven't)... HRD controls the radio ***WHEN IT IS
CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER***. So if you are connected to the computer,
there really is no need for HRD to know how to programme the radio's
memories. It can store as much info as you want on the PC's disk and
directly tune the radio in a flash. So why would you want to be limited to
just what the radio can store when you probably have a few hundred GB of
disk sitting there?
Memories in the radio are for when you are not connected. Yes I realise HRD
could also programme the memories but that's not what it was designed for.
IIRC, HRD came with FT817 commander which was a programme for setting the
memories on the 817. That may well work on the 857/897 too.
If you dont like HRD you certainly wouldn't like its author.
