The implication here is that the 2SC1969 was being operated in Class A.
Class A is less than 50 percent efficient, and overall stage efficiency
is usually expected to be not much more than 25 % when output circuit
losses are factored in.
Your 2.5W output therefore means that the transistor was probably being
run at close to its maximum DC input of 10W.
