I was considering doing exactly that for use with a predecessor to the 706 (I
don't remember which rig, so I will not point a finger). When I got the 706 I
found I didn't need the to do it.
If pagers really are a problem for 2m reception, then a good cheap work around
is to use a converted PMR set.
