Well now you know.

It's especially useful for people like me who sound like a helium junkie
than a grown man :-)

Icom seem to have a fixation with very sharp filter bandwidths and often
choose 2.3KHz bandwidth for their ssb filters with very steep roll offs.

Not a problem at the HF end of the audio spectrum but the LF is usually
missing and makes the tx sound a bit thin. Perhaps this isn't a problem
with Japanese vocal chords ?

Changing the subject slightly I often wonder why rig manufacturers
allow you to use the ssb filter on AM. Not exactly the most useful
feature to include considering that it would be far better to listen
to the AM station on ssb if the going is tough.
