REGIONAL WSPR TECHNICAL BULLETIN
HF Propagation & Micro-Power Monitoring in Central America
## Edition: 7-Day Digest (Central America) Date: September 28
REGIONAL NETWORK STATUS & WEAK SIGNAL PROPAGATION
* Global HF Propagation Monitoring (20m, 15m, and 10m)
Over the past week, WSPR (Weak Signal Propagation Reporter) transmissions
across Central America recorded high volume spot receptions in Europe and
North America. The 20m (14.0956 MHz) and 10m (28.1246 MHz) bands exhibited
exceptional daytime openings for sub-watt transmissions.
* Pico Balloon Telemetry and QRP Stations
Multiple high-altitude pico balloon transmissions passing through the region
were intercepted. These solar-powered transmitters, operating at a mere
10 mW (20 dBm), delivered continuous position, altitude, and temperature
data directly to the WSPRnet system.
* WSPRnet Integration and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) Analysis
Regional receiving stations (Skimmers / SDRs) maintained steady performance,
logging average SNR levels between -15 dB and -28 dB, confirming the protocol's
efficiency for RF channel auditing under severe noise conditions.

## ACTIVITY DISTRIBUTION & SPOT RECEPTION BY COUNTRY
------------------ --------------- --------------------------- -------------------------------
| AREA / COUNTRY | EST. USAGE | PRIMARY BANDS | EQUIPMENT & APPLICATION |
------------------ --------------- --------------------------- -------------------------------
| Costa Rica | 36Y | 20m / 15m / 10m | SDR Skimmers / Transmitters |
| Panama | 26Y | 20m / 40m | Listening Stations / QRP |
| Guatemala | 22Y | 20m / 10m | Solar Monitoring / Pico-Balloons|
| El Salvador | 10Y | 40m / 20m | Fixed Test Beacons |
| Rest of C.A. | 6Y | Various HF Bands | Occasional Receivers |
------------------ --------------- --------------------------- -------------------------------
---
## RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REGIONAL OPERATORS
Beacon operators are urged to maintain precise system clock calibration using
NTP or GPS, as accurate time synchronization is essential for proper 2-minute
WSPR window decoding.
