Hi All,
I have been looking into the Radio LAN options, simply considering the
reasons for and against it, in connection with Amateur Radio.

The basic premise of Packet Radio is to have a completely independent
network without the reliance on commercial providers such a TelCo's and
ISP's, so that during times of greatest need, such as a disaster where the
commercial system has failed, the Amateur Network can provide Emergency
communications.

Taking the above into consideration the use of WLAN is far more acceptable
than using internet forwarding, which is far too reliant on the commercial
companies to facilitate passing data across a fractured network, So if a
WLAN system can be implemented which would claw back some of the users who
have moved to Telnet over the Internet, it may be possible to recreate an
Independent Network, the actual protocols used are not really the problem
as AX25 was and still is a derivitive of the old X.25 handshaking protocol
adapted for Amateur Radio.

At the time of XYZ Modem protocols AX25 was technologically advanced
system that has provided massive amount of pleasure for many Amateurs, To
provide a platform which will give future Amateurs the same pleasure we
really need to progress into the HighSpeed network but maintaining our
independence from the Commercial TelCo's & ISP's, by creating our own
Broadband Network
