Hello Mark and readers,
All in all a very interesting discourse on WLAN, no problem using
microwave to replace the backbone currently running at 9600bd. We would
then have broadband capabilities and all the niceties that go with it
when and if local high speed ports are provided. Retaining the current
1200bd 2M and 9600bd 70cM ports for the text pokies is just fine since
that's what the majority do anyway. You don't need lightning to deliver a
text message. (;->)
Telnet is just one of many protocols, but perhaps before jumping into
deep water a single protocol suitable for Internet like connections
should be establised to avoid confusion just like AX25 is universally
accepted at this time so one TNC fits all. Since the TNC hardware bit is
going the way of the dinosaur in favor of sound cards and software, some
day a single internal modem and suitable software, drivers etc. will
become the norm much as it is now with wired high speed connections.
One thing I take umbrage at is the very same I have all along, that
infernal connection to the INTERNET! Amateur packet Radio does not need
and many do not want the intrusion of the Internet on our private
property for a host of reasons, all of which have been cited by myself
and others all along. If your notion of setting up an Amateur Radio
digital communications network is to succeed the Internet must GO!!! If
it is retained we will continue to have all the LAND LINE LID SCREWUPS we
have now including service interruptions!!!
How clear can it be made to you all in light of this most recent DoS
attack on the Internet and many that have happened in the past? Since
this last was perhaps the most dramatic the possibility you may have
overlooked it's impact on packet is oughtright impossible, no excuses are
acceptable! When the Internet went down it naturally took the land line
lids with it and we had a nice, peaceful packet radio network still up
and running completely free of land line lid screwups, everything ran
smoothly for a change.
In light of this fact that was hammered home unmistakably those who claim
the Internet is a boon to packet are full of hooey, talk trash, speak
with fork tongue etc. or to put it simply a bunch of self deluded
deceivers speaking lies. It has been made perfectly clear beyond any
shadow of a doubt that Amateur packet Radio works BETTER without the
Internet pollution, so no further suggestion of it being helpful and most
certainly the notion that it should be connected to a new high speed
modern packet system can even be considered in your wildest dreams.
NO LIES ARE ACCEPTABLE WHEN THE TRUTH HAS JUST SMACKED YOU RIGHT IN THE
FACE! The Internet has no place in Amateur Radio in any way, shape, or
form, it has to go and the land line lids must go with it!
The bottom line here is that I'm all for progress but progres cannot be
had if we retain that mill stone around our necks, we must shuck it off
and fly into the future of Amateur Radio high speed digital service of
our OWN. One step forward and two steps back will never get you there.
