Louis,
Here are my suggestions (not answers!)
> 1. How do I disable the ID that keeps on coming up for NODE?
Try setting the number of nodes to 0 and remove the message, both are given
in the "settings" under "tnc"

You must _first_ log onto the BBS you are going to use, and then send
[WINTNC-1.01-$] to start the application protocol between your PMS and the BBS.
You can use a script file for that, there's one in the "help" which will do.

When you type R 102456 in the BBS, it simply sends it to you - you must decide
to download it before you read it (bad luck, but nothing to do with WINTNC).
The best method might be to start a download file for the whole session using
F1, and then edit the bits you don't want afterwards.

Type CTRL+K then Q - press F1 _in_the_editor_ for help on this. It's a
WordStar combination - there're many others.

I have written?
Don't know, but I suspect the same method might work? - also try F1

Agreed - I suspect that Jon G7JJF wrote the help himself, which is usually not
such a good idea in my own experience. WINTNC is an excellent programme though,
but perhaps somebody might have a go at writing an extended help for it?
