*** New Default Setting***
Janitor now starts up in a similar way to 2htmlib suggesting who you
REQFIL stuff from, it no longer automatically REQFIL's items unless
you change the default setting, see below.
Janitor a server for WinPack...
--------------------------------
What does it do...
Janitor /ACK
------------
Janitor is a replacement for the "ACK" server supplied with WinPack,
it reads the ACK.INI config file, and works exactly the same as the
ACK server that comes with WinPack.
Janitor /QSL
------------
Janitor also responds to the QSL command, it reads the ACK.INI config
file, and will reply to /QSL if it's configured in ACK.INI
(see your WinPack help files)
Janitor & 7plus
---------------
If you ever send or receive 7plus, Janitor will automate error
correction.
Janitor & 7plus .COR
--------------------
Janitor responds to 7plus error messages.
If a 7plus error message (.ERR) is received, Janitor will look in your
WinPack public directories and in your HTML directories to see if it
can automatically build a 7plus correction file (.COR).
If it can, a correction file will be sent out and the sysop informed.
Janitor & 7plus .ERR
--------------------
Janitor responds to 7plus errors.
If a 7plus file is received and it is corrupt, Janitor will send a
7plus error report (.ERR) to the sender of the 7plus asking for a
correction file (.COR) and inform the sysop.
Janitor & 7++
-------------
Janitor supports 7++ by IK6PYS.
If a 7plus file is received along with an information file (.INF) in
the IK6PYS format, Janitor will automatically relocate the received
file into a suitable sub-directory along with a one line text file.
Janitor then informs the sysop where the file has been moved to.
Janitor & 2HTMLIB
-----------------
Janitor supports HTMLIB housekeeping.
If a HTML message is received, Janitor checks the file for image and
sound files, it looks on the hard disk to see if these are present.
Janitor will search in the following directories, HTMLIB, HTMLMID,
7DECODE, & HTMSTORE.
You can if you wish place all your image files in HTMSTORE and Janitor
will move them into the correct subdirectory when they are required.
Newly received image files can be left in 7DECODE, Janitor will move
them when they are needed.
Janitor keeps a log in HTMLIB.LOG giving the date the image is used.
If an image cannot be found, it is requested from the sender of the
HTML page and the sysop informed.
If multiple images are required from the sender /reqfil requests are
sent out at the rate of one request every 24 hours.
----------------------------------
INSTALLATION
------------
Place a copy of Janitor.exe in your \winpack\servers\receive directory
Remove the old ACK.EXE server, but leave the ACK.INI config file.
Also place a copy of Janitor.exe in your \winpack\servers\bulls
directory, remove any other servers if possible.
If you have been using 2HTMLIB or wish to run Janitor in that mode,
place all your image and sound files in a subdirectory called HTMSTORE
in your \WINPACK directory.
Remove any old .LOG files created by other servers I have written,
these will be in the \WINPACK directory and may be called
"HTMLIB.LOG", "HTMLMID.LOG", "7PLUS.LOG", "ORDER.LOG".
If the file called "ORDER.LOG" is not present in your winpack
directory, Janitor will create it the first time it runs.
The first line Janitor puts in "ORDER.LOG" is REQFIL=FALSE this is the
default setting.
In this mode Janitor functions in a similar way to the 2htmlib server,
it scans all HTML stuff, and produces a list of who sent any image
files that you do not have.
You can then manually REQFIL them if you wish.
If you go into the file "ORDER.LOG" with a text editor, and change
this line to REQFIL=TRUE Janitor will automatically REQFIL any missing
images for you.
Remove any other servers if possible, they should not be needed
alongside Janitor, it duplicates what most other servers do, and all
in a 30k program file !
1/
Janitor will now respond to /ACK in a personal message if you have the
ACK.INI config file set for this feature (See WinPack Help).
2/
Janitor will respond to mail that contains /QSL if ACK.INI is
configured for this feature (See WinPack Help).
3/
7plus errors, this is a tricky one, if an incoming 7plus error file is
received, Janitor will search in the following directories.
HTMLIB, HTMLMID, and your public directories, if it can build a .COR
file from anything it finds in these directories, it will
automatically send a 7plus correction file (.COR) to the originator of
the 7plus .ERR file.
4/
7plus corrections, Janitor maintains a log (\WINPACK\7PLUS.LOG) of the
sender of every 7plus item it receives.
If a 7plus file is corrupt it uses this log to locate the sender of
the 7plus file and sends out a 7plus .ERR message.
5/
7++ support, if a 7plus file is received that also has a matching .INF
file sent using the IK6PYS system, the file will be automatically
placed into a suitable subdirectory.
If the file has come from another WinPack user, who has used +Cnv2html
plus+ to automatically generate the file, it will end up in exactly
the same winpack subdirectory at the receiving station as at the
sending station.
This only applies to stuff that started in the following directories
and will not over-write any existing files.
\winpack\htmlib \winpack\htmlmid \winpack\pub\
Also a text file will be created that is compatible with my REQDIR
servers, this text file will contain a short description of what the
7plus file does.
6/
HTML library support, if a HTML page is received, and it uses a
graphics image you don't have, the image will be REQFIL'ed from the
sender of the HTML page using the winpack REQFIL protocol.
A text file in the \winpack directory called order.log is created
giving details of what has been ordered.
Once a file has been ordered it will not be asked for again unless you
delete the file called order.log.
7/
HTML sound support, As above but uses the HTMLMID subdirectory.
Compatible servers also available are...
CN0898.ZIP the version of Cnv2html that supports 7++ in outgoing
REQFIL's.
RD0698.ZIP and RD0798.ZIP are REQDIR substitutes that use the 7++ text
file.
LIST.ZIP helps test the REQDIR server.
If you do REQFIL any of the above, first install Janitor, that way
your received 7plus file will be placed into your \winpack\public
directory.
History,
Janitor 1.
----------
Introduced 1st October 1998
Janitor 1-A
-----------
15th October 1998
Minor changes to reduce number of REQFIL's
Janitor 1-B
-----------
27th October 1998
Support for 7plus error files added.
Code altered to work in a similar way to 2htmlib, all image files can
now start life in the HTMSTORE directory.
Code added to send messages back to sysop informing where files are
re-located to.
Reqfil code changed so only one reqfil goes out per 24 hour period for
pages with multiple missing images.
Option now in first line of file "order.log" REQFIL=FALSE to turn off
automatic REQFIL's, change this to REQFIL=TRUE to automate REQFIL's
With REQFIL=FALSE Janitor works in a similar way to 2htmlib.
JANITOR 1-C
-----------
1st November 1998
Mistake in code found, sound files were going into HTMLIB and not
HTMLMID, HTMLMID was being ignored, so images in HTMLMID were wrongly
being reqfil'd.
ACK config changed to keep in line with WinPack ACK server V2.2. by
Roger G4IDE
JANITOR 1-D
-----------
8th November 1998
Code altered slightly to allow for longer lines in HTML messages.

some interest.
