I have migrated from OS2 to Win98, to XP and I decided not to bother with
any more and I am in the process of changing everything to Linux.
I understand what VK3API said and I agree largely.
However I think if you settle on one distribution as I have, Debian, it
does not really matter. I previously used Unbuntu but the transition was
seamless as it is a Debian derivative.

The prceedure for installing new programs is easy with the software that
comes with the CD. When I ran the VK2WI BBS on dos I had reliabilty problems
as it is a remote site. I knew from tunning a BBS here that Windows FBB
would be impossible on a remote site so in desperation I learnt with the
help of Ray VK2TV how to install and run Lin FBB.
The increase in reliability was dramatic. I even went overseas for six weeks
and it never missed a beat.

For Peter VK3API, I think if you decide what distro suits you and then not
worry about the others it will work out fine.
