Thanks for those comments, Bruce. I have had no problem with AVG which I
have used for some years. AVAST also seems to take longer to update but
that is not a real problem.AVG has always seemed to do a good job for me,
but most of my computering is done with emails except for research on
sites which do not appear to carry viruses. Maybe the virus merchants
don't think they are popular enough to bother infecting those.
