I have never used Vista but my grand daughter who works as an accountant
does and she says she is happy with it.
As far as Explorer is concerned I have never liked any of the IE programs
and have for some years used Netscape, then Mozilla and now Firefox, all
from the same stable.
I used AVG as an AV program for several years and found it OK. On the
advice of a friend I changed to AVAST but in the matter of a couple of
months I had some Trojans install them selves with never a sigh from
AVAST. I went back to AVG which kicked up a hullabaloo immediately and
told me I had an unwelcome visitor. I am staying with AVG.It does a good
job.
I previously have used Norton and MacAfee but the cost is something I
really can't afford when there is an adequate freeby available. Viruses in
emails have never been a problem as my ISP provides virus protection at a
small cost and I have gone with that. The viruses I have picked up have all
come from sites some of which seemed to be safe sites.
Time they put a few of the virus devisers and senders to chokey for a few
years. They are pests of the first order.

>I have run XP since getting my desktop model, and agree I like it
better then VISTA ... but then my wife got VISTA with her new
laptop and the only thing we have not allowed as an update,
and you reall have to watch what they try to update you with
and that is Explorer 8 ... that messes up our email program.
