Vista is shown to be poorly received all round as covered by many
computer magazine reviews. Many have cited that XP Pro is far easier to
use, computer friendly etc and some with PC's have reverted to XP.
Being so I tried Vista's replacement Windows7, that even Microsoft
conceded would be better and needed over Vista.
However in comparison with XP, 7 was a great disappointment for me.
Certainly it needs less ram, than Vista, but it is very much a school boy
looking operating system.
Things that were clearly and easily brought up in XP were hidden in
schedules and even Microsoft advise that to find things you can't make an
icon for, to go into help type in a search subject and having found it
click and get it up.
It is slower than xp and has a wishy washy appearance and does nothing
extra for my style of use that XP easily performs.
Having used windows since 3.2, my definite choice is XP. Maybe there are
some mysterious wiz bang special things built into 7, but for my main use
of the internet and email, as with most folk. Why would anyone make a
costly change, maybe in several computers, with no real gain.
Maybe I feel Microsoft would have been better to make an XP Pro2, that
allowed us to keep all our favorite programs and drivers. Nero does not
work with 7 and they advise me they will not have 7 updates for previous
versions. So in that case, I use the Ashampoo suite, for burning and
backups.
So it seems that I will be using XP infitum, until all the program and
accessories manufacturers no longer support it. A great pity!
The over protection for registry, stops most registry cleaners from
working, a real pain!
