AR magazine Issue No.2 for 2020 is out there!
Date : 08 / 08 / 2020
Author : Roger Harrison - VK2ZRH
Like a long-delayed echo of a signal heard on the 40-metre band, Issue No.2 of Amateur Radio magazine
is – at last – on its way to members and to the newsagents.
If you subscribe to the print copy of AR magazine, keep an eye out for it in your letterbox real soon now.
Members can download a digital issue from this website. The WIA Board decided to make it available
from Friday 7th August.
The main feature – highlighted on the front cover – is a beguiling article on The romance of restoring
real radios, by Phil Wait VK2ASD. Restoring a Hallicrafters SX62A was Phil’s pandemic project!
The Homebrew HF transceiver project continues! In this latest instalment, Luigi Destefano VK3AQZ covers
the transmitter circuitry and construction.
In keeping with the principle of focusing on technical matters, also served up in this issue is an article
on Simple dummy loads for rig testing at HF and higher frequencies – by the indefatigable Jim Tregellas VK5JST.
And for owners of the popular Yaesu FT-817 rig, Keith Gooley VK5OQ gives us the skinny on his Automated
reference switching project.
Something for a Saturday arvo in lockdown.
For the contesters out there – we have details on the 2020 Oceania DX Contest, which runs over two weekends in October.
When the battles on the bands are over, its time to QSL. And for that pastime, many hams turn to their trusty Callbook.
WIA Historian Peter Wolfenden VK3RV, concludes his thesis on Callbooks: Their continuing value.
For this one, the pictures are a must-see!
But that’s not all. Members – you can download your copy from this
