Hi OM,

My MFJ-1270C/1276 TNC 2 Data Controller instruction book says it is
"Fifth Edition 1994". There are 287 pages in the book, rather too many to
photocopy the lot.

The schematic diagrams in the back are marked "REV 11" in the bottom right
corner of the Title box. The pages are A5 & quite hard to read. Maybe they
could be more readable "blown up" to A4 size. There are two layout pages &
three schematic pages, not too many to make copies of.

I don't know if the information can be downloaded from an MFJ web site.

The DIP switch that sets the "Terminal baud rate" (to the PC) is easy to
understand as far as the first five switches are concerned. I set #1 to 4
off & #5 ON to have 9600 baud speed to my PC.
The remaining three switches are to do with the internal modem settings.
Mine were set for HF only when I got it. Sure there is a HF/VHF push
switch on the back, but these DIP switches (#6,7 & 8) made the RX not work
on VHF.
The yellow LED would light but no data was received on the PC.
With #6 off, #7 ON & #8 off, normal operation was restored.
I was pleased that I hadn't spent $100 on a box that didn't work.

Another Amateur at Br29 had exactly the same "RX no go, but Led lights"
trouble on his MFJ1270C. I told him about switches 6, 7 & 8, so he could
get it going.

I'm doing BBS packet & APRS with my TNC.
