I am wanting to find out what frequencies are used for WW news and
any other broadcasts from Macedonia, or in close proximity. Any other
HF frequencies known to be used by either Ham, Civillian or Military,
in and around Macedonia, I would also be keen to know.

I have close family that is about to travel to the centre of the
current conflict area, and even tho a peace deal has been looked
at today, there is great desire to be able to monitor the activity
in real time by members of the Macedonian community, here in Christchurch.

I was hoping to be able to give them an HF portable rig and some
sizeable gel packs to hopefully make comms. Within reason, what
is a good rig to go portable with. Nothing fancy needed, more
a reliable robust small set.... low power consumption rating,
easy to operate and full coverage. AM recption a big plus.
50 watts up to 100 watts, I guess.

If there are any rigs for sale out there that sound like what
I am wanting.... what do you have, and how much? Also any particular
dipole, wether 1/4 or trapped that stands out from the rest
that is compactable and made for real portable use?

Appreciation for any replies in advance,
Graham
