Hello OM
Release 2.0 of CW_Player is quite ready to be put on the net but I would
like that software testers try it before it is made available on the WEB.
I remind that CW_Player is a free program to learn and train the Morse
code. It requires Win95 as a minimum and a sound card.
It plays the alphabet, Q codes, abbreviations, text files, live texts,
plays random series. It includes a Quiz test to evaluate your knowledge.
The actual release is 1.90a. It is available on the WEB site of F1ORL,
among others. (many other WEB sites have got links to that site, see AC6V
for example).
The 2.0 release includes a new function called "Monitoring" . Actually,
it is a simple audio morse decoder.
The purpose is to help newcomers to have a good keying before starting on
the air. Probably that after some keying practice, watching on the screen
to what that they are sending, they will have less stress when sending for the
first time on the air.

So, I would like that some of you try that beta release.
Testers must have a PC with Win95 at least and a sound card.
They must know the Morse code, otherwise they will have some difficulties
to test the Monitoring function hi !
They need to key an audio generator to the Mic or Line input of their sound
card (that may be the CW audio monitoring of a transmitter).
Please remember that the function is to help novices to get a good keying.
So, the purpose is not to test the decoding of CW signals on the air.
As the decoder is based on a simple envelope decoder, it needs a fairly
well-shaped audio signal with a good signal-to-noise ratio.
If your transceiver has got efficient DSP and filtering, CW_Player will
probably easily decodes Morse signal up to 40 wpm but it is not the purpose !
So, if you agree, pass me your Internet e-mail adress
so that I send you that beta release of CW_Player.
The software is more than 500 Ko including the Help files, so no way to send
it on the packet network in 7+ (too big !)
Thank you for your help.
