Hello Lowfers,
maybe this is interesting for you:
The annoying "rattling" QRM from the Loran-Pulses (which is very strong
in JO42 sometimes) can be cancelled using the Kenwood TS850's noiseblanker.
Usually the noiseblanker of the TS850 (and -I guess- other Kenwood rigs)
has no great effect. But it seems to work perfect against Loran.
On a small RX-antenna at home, I pushed the buttons "NB1" AND "NB2", turned the
"noise blanker level" to medium positio, and the "NB2 with" VERY SLOWLY until
the noise almost disappeared.
By the way, at DF0WD I usually use a linear transverter with a sharp
preselector (but no noiseblanker...). I have now put the circuit diagram
on the internet (www.qsl.net/dl4yhf). Maybe I will add a little noiseblanker
there later.
Hope to see you on 136kHz ! 73's Wolf (DL4YHF, sometimes DF0WD).
