Hello longwawes fans!
Thank you for reading this message, I hope you can give me some informations.
Last september I decided to listen in the NDB band in order to evaluate the
possibilities of this band before start my activity on the last frontier ..
136 kHz! after some random tuning on the band I was really intrigued because
a lot of unexpected signals were audible so I started a quite systematic
listening from 200 up to 500 kHz. I logged up to day about 300 different NDBs
and thanks to IW3FZQ (he supplied me a copy of the Handbuch der Funknaviga-
tionshilfen) I was able to identify most part of them.
Unfortunately the last edition of the Handbuch ist not very updated (1991) and
in the meantime some new station appeared some other changed the frequency
so some of the logged stations are now for me unknown! I found on the web
plenty of informations available concerning NDBs in the USA (the probably are
out of question ...) but, at least it seems to me, there is some lack of infor-
mation concerning the european NDBs (or generally speaking NDBs not located in
the USA!).
I will be glad if someone has some suitable, updated reference in the web with
this concern or, if someone of you can give me informations aboute the herebe-
low listed stations.
I'm listening at this time using my HF rig (Kenwood TS950) alone or with an
homemade converter (part of the next 136 kHz rig) and the antenna is an
inverted V for the 160 (feed point about 45m high sloping down on the roof at
about 35m).
update: 08/01/2000
Notes:the displayed QRG produces an audio output of 909 Hz using the spftware
sonogram (sample = 5,5k; FFT 512). Some of the NDB are sending in true CW and
in this case "my" QRG complies the official QRG reported on the lists; some
other NDBs are sending in AM or in SSB, in this case "my" QRG is the "official"
QRG +/- about 1 kHz. As further reference here you find a couple of examples:
HCB -->under the a.m. conditions, my RX display shows 74,95 kHz; tuning 75,00
kHz produces a 866 Hz tone.
DCF77--> 77,45 kHz; tuning on 77,50 kHz you get a 866 Hz tone.
Call: the calls reported as _XXX_ mean a steady carrier which is interrupted
for the call, under the "note" column I reported the period of each cycle.
The 2 QRG column is used to report the second QRG where I heard the second side
band for NDBs sending in AM.
Some of these TX could be already identified but the QRG reported elsewhere are
probably not updated (1991) and in this case I reported the possible identifi-
cation with a ?
UTC the following hrd were made from end of september 1999 up to nowadays, I can
listen some of these TX daytime and nighttime, and so are probably close to my
QTH (I suppose within 3 - 400 km) other appear after the reported time.
