Yesterday was a very good day for DX on 6 metres with most Australian
states active plus ZL. Without any doubt this was sporadic E.
HOWEVER: Two locals worked stations on 10 metres too, VK3 - probably
sporadic E too but one worked Europe and Asia.. It is doubtful whether the
European contact is Sporadic E so there must have been some F2 around
rather earlier in the sunspot cycle than I would have expected from this
neck of the woods. Maybe the predictions are a little out.
Before it is pointed out to me, I know the US can have episodes like this
but the amateurs in that country are fortunate in having large populations
in all directions and plenty of population in a north south direction. We
have not got this advantage and 10 metre openings here at this time of the
cycle are quite rare, in fact in times of the low in the sunspot cycle 10
is closed for several years from where I operate..

It seems then that 10 is well worth a look.
Bob VK6BE.
