Hi All,

I have a Yaesu FT-100D that has a broken tuning knob. I can still
change frequencies by other means, but the packet port is stuck
in the default 1200b setting. Some menu options use the tuning
knob to make changes, and the packet port setting is one of them.

I want to use the radio on HF. My questions are as follows:

1) What technically changes in the radio when the port is set
to 1200b/FM use vs. 300b/SSB use?
2) If I just leave it set at the 1200b setting, would it make
   much difference on HF?
3) If I made a cable to use the mic jack for audio in & PTT
and the headphone jack for audio out, to which packet port
   setting would that be equivalent?

Thanks and 73,
Lee K5DAT
