Hello David VK2AWZ and others, that might read this posting of
yours. I am going to re-quote it, because it is important.,
Well to me, as I have made comments on-air to these Internet
Hams for years.

Also going to throw in my pennies of support for what you are
saying, because it is so true!

How true! When they have socials, these hams attending can not
socialize, like they do with a micrphone in their paws.

The nightly net, on the local repeater for Toronto, lasts for
"3" minutes, and then they are all gone. They even have an
automated system now trying to get more members as it has
declined in years.

As my HF antenna is still down, only have mobile, and the 80m
net is just it seems checkins, far and inbetween and no chatter.

YES..have not heard a conversation for a long time...?

Agreed there. All I hear now is voice and how to connect more
to Internet. How to use my cellphone for ham radio and Internet,
and don't talk to me, seems to be the new operator.

Packet...well they are trying to get rid of it here, from what I
hear from operators talking , when they do. I guess it isn't
Emergency enough for them. Who knows David?

I hope you realize that the calls are on there all the time
and it says if the operator is online in Echlink.

Right on David! I remember that well, and even mentioned to a few
snobs, that perhaps yearly licence fees should comeback, and perhaps
rental of a frequency ... which sparked a Sqawk here.

Even on the fringe of the 144mhz area, we note pagers there, and some
poorly installed ones as well interfering with the 2m repeaters.

Yes they are valuable, and many business interests , yearly petition
the regulator to allow them use of these frequencies that the hammie
snobs think are birth rights. How foolish!

Great Post David.
