SOUTH AFRICAN HAM RADIO UFO INTEREST GROUP
                                (SAHRUIG)
From Peter ZS2ABF,
To the Silent Majority,

It's good to see that at long last our discussion group has taken off and
Ham's are starting to put out their Space Probes into the Cyber world of
Packet Radio.
We have received both Private and Open Bulls on the subject, that's good and
we respect the privacy.

What I don't want to happen is that, it turns into a slanging match between
other UFO lovers or non believes. Sten has always contributed to the Packet
crowd in his particular mannerism. This may be objectionable to some and fun
to others. I have corresponded to Sten for a couple of years. He is ok and, is
a strong believer in the UFO phenomenon. He means well it's just his way of
putting it. This can also be good, as it gets people worked up enough to put
pen to paper and reply.
Just remember our object as a group to not to throw stones, at each other, but
to DISCUSSE the UFO subject and try to throw some constructive light on the
subject. I personally have no time for people that think thier way is the one
and only way. Over the many years that I have been a Radio Ham I have found
that Hams are the worst policeman to themselves, and that's not good.

Thanks to Peter and a few others that have stuck out their necks and
contributed. Come out into the open and put your call sign and your remarks
down in a packet bull for us all to, see, digest, ponder and then reply in a
meaningful constructive way. Only a few of us have had a UFO experience. In my
small city in the wilds of Africa in a Ham community of only +- 30, there are
three of us that have sighted a UFO. Therefore on statistics alone there must
be many more Hams out there that could also send in their sightings.
To the many more that are intrigued by the subject, they must have formed an
opinion from what they have read, hear or seen in the press or read in the
libraries. I invite you all to contribute.

Peter mentioned a ham that told him of an experience he had whilst in the army
and was a bit evasive in his details even in a private packet to him. Well
Peter, that ham lives in UK, and I have wrote about his experience in one of
my previous News letters, (No Callsign mentioned). Their armoured column of
electrically driven vehicles suddenly stopped during a military exercise. All
lights and motors died. They were mystified and the ham thinks they could have
been in the vicinity of a UFO (pure guess). When they got back to camp the
Ministry of Defence issued a "D" notice (the British governments most top
restriction). That forbade them to talk about it to any one, even amongst
themselves, on the penalty of imprisonment. In other words, another government
cover up. What did they know that we did not?.

Sten talks about "hostile" he is correct we have always been hostile to others
and more so to the unknown. Go back in our history, When Captain Cook sailed
to the far east. On meeting the local natives, hostilities broke out. When the
Spanish conquistadors entered South America they waged war with the Incas etc,
etc.

The trouble is if anyone in the Super Powers governments have been contacted
(Many books say they have) they are keeping very hush-hush about it. It is
therefore up to us to figure it out for ourselves, and squabbling over it
amongst ourselves will not achieve that.

On a more serious note how about this report:
It was related by Captain Ruppet and was called the "Lubbock affair" it began
on the evening of 25 August 1951, when employee of the Atomic Energy
Commision's super secret Sandia Corporation, one with a top "Q" security
clearance, looked up in the sky from his garden on the outskirts of
Albuquerque, New Mexico, and saw a huge aircraft flying swiftly and silently
over his home. He later described it as having the shape of a "flying wing",
about one and a half times the size of a B-26, with six to eight softly
glowing, bluish lights on the rear end of the wing type structure.
Make's you think don't it ?

Looking forward to the next OPEN letter in the Discussion Group (that's when
they throw mud at me, Hi)

From one of the Lunatic Fringe,
Chers,
 Peter ZS2ABF.
