[¯¯¯ TST HOST 1.43b, UTC diff:-1, Local time: Wed Dec 30 20:08:25 1998 ®®®]

Dr. (X)YL/OM,

Running TSTHOST v1.43 for quite some time (and many versions before) I've
grown to like it very much. One little thing is bothering me however.

TSTHOST uses may files to store all sorts of information. Some are
maintained automatically by the program, some have to be initiated by the
user. One of the last type is TSTHOST.HBB, which keeps record of the Home
Bulletin Board (hence the extension HBB) of amateurs that wrote messages.
If you want to keep it up to date you have to run regularly the utility
UPDHBB.EXE which is supplied with the program files. It can be run from a
DOS shell inside TSTHOST.

Running UPDHBB, you see some information on screen about how long ago it
was last run, and when it is finished it outputs info on how many calls
were new, updated and in the database in total. You have less than a second
to read that, as the DOS shell will terminate and put you back to TSTHOST.

What I would like to do is to create a little more time to read the
information without stopping the DOS shell, because this would need
keyboard action and I also run UPDHBB at night automatically.

I can see two ways of solving the problem:

1. I put UPDHBB.EXE inside a DOS batch file (called UPDHBB.BAT) like this:

@ECHO OFF                       |
ECHO Updating HBB, QRX... |just to have something on screen
UPDHBB.EXE >UPDHBB.TXT          |copy output to file

After terminating the BATchfile I would then like to somehow make TSTHOST
echo the contents of UPDHBB to the screen.

2. An alternative would be a batch file like this:

@ECHO OFF
UPDHBB.EXE
WAIT

Where WAIT would somehow invoke a DOS action that would just take some time
to execute but does not output any text to screen, thereby delaying the
termination of the batch file process, but that doesn't require any other
action like the DOS PAUSE command that requires the user to hit any key to
continue.

What I need is either a way of making TSTHOST copy the contents of a file
to the screen, OR any DOS command or batch file like described above.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
