Hello Jeff.
>Which astronomical metal disk (Astrolabe?) was found in this century?
>Regards.
Well it is a metal disc. On the iron disk there are golden pieces
layed in. These golden inlays show the sun, moon, and a
starconfiguration the Plaejades. The configuration of it all
is made in such a way, that it is obvious prehistoric man had
knowledge of astronomical events and used it.
I have seen some documentaries of it on Germany and some weeks
ago one on the BBC. The programme was called Horizon I think.
On the BBC they also explained how it works, but even today
one needs knowledge to understand these things. The reporter
on the BBC used a lot of techical jargon. My english vocabulary
does not cover that all.
It is the only disc ever found. Because of the golden inlays
it was valuable in the days it was used. It was build like
Stone Henge to last. The condition of the disc is not bad
considering the age. (prehistoric)
The germans did a metal test which proved the ore came
out of ancient german iron mines. So it was made in Europe,
not imported. A metal analysis reveals the chemical contents,
that means also the unwanted other materials in it. If they
match the material found in the mines, you know where it came
from. Every mine has it's own specific ore characteristics.
Only a minor part of the disc is corroded.
I don't know if the disc was given a (nick) name.
Anyway it gives us now a complely different perspective
of the prehistoric times. The prehistoric golden cones which I wrote
about some time ago are not made by primitive people either because
they are made with great skill, very well done.
