These attempts to milk gullible people, who want to get rich quick, of
their hard earned cash by getting at their bank accounts have been
circulating on the Internet for several years. After (OZ) Government
legislation was passed by Canberra making spamming illegal these emails
came to a full stop for a time. I read somewhere that a fair proportion
were coming from a gentleman (?) in Sydney who was nabbed by the
constabulary and is now suffering for his sins.. I was getting around 40
or 50 a week all with a similar sob story ostensibly coming from Nigeria.
Maybe some were.
A variation which still occasionally comes along is a notification that I
have won X million US dollars in an internet lottery, my assigned number
being picked by a computer at random. Oh Yeah!!! I have won about 15
million this way but ignored all the winner notifications. I wonder why?
Spamming got to be so bad here on my mail box on the internet that I have
changed address twice. That brings it to a full stop for a considerable
time.
