Hello TPK users,

I'm releasing my TPK-LIST programme today. This programme is for adding
new header lines to a TPK *.LST file. A LST file holds information for the
TPK message files on your HDD. (When you press ALT+L in TPK, it is the LST
file that is displayed.) My programme is similar to the MAKELIST programme
by Roger Barker G4IDE (SK).

For some reason, MAKELIST wouldn't work for me. Maybe the MAKELIST.TEM
file was the problem, as MAKELIST gave a "Processing Finished", message but
didn't add any new headers to the *.LST file. Unfortunately there was
insufficient detail in the .DOC file that I had at the time, to enable
me to find the problem. I thought the inability to tolerate "paging" lines
in the capture file, according to the DOC file, was not too good...so...

I have written my own version of MAKELIST which does a little more than
the original. TPK-LIST can remove old or deleted message headers as it is
up-dating a LST file. It can also exclude or remove certain message headers
which are selected by call sign, address or @BBS. The "Help" pages (or DOC
file) are contained within the programme (Press F1), so can't be lost. It
will also make a new configuration file if the config file is missing. And
it doesn't mind having extraneous lines in the capture file.

I started writing TPK-LIST about 18 months ago after downloading MAKELIST
from the local packet radio BBS. I think it was Ian, G0TEZ who posted it
near the end of 2004. TPK-LIST has gone through many, many minor revisions
over the last year...probably 100 or more. I've been using it daily for the
past few months to give it a good try out. In that time I've found a few
things that needed changing or adding. (I hope there are no more.)
Most of the testing has been done with output from FBB7.0 BBSs, but recently
I've successfully tried the programme with a capture file from a BBS using
NNA-3.1.5-BFHL2MV3$

The last problem discovered was the TPK doesn't know that the message
number file (*.NUM) has been changed by TPK-LIST. TPK could ask the BBS to
send unproto message headers starting from the previous last message number,
so you could end up with duplicate lines in your LST file. This was fixed
by having TPK-LIST tell TPK to display the HomeBBS.LST file if the
HomeBBS.LST file had been up-dated.
However if your BBS does send unproto headers, it would be better to just
use TPK-LIST to fill in any gaps in your LST files or to "clean" them of
unwanted header lines.

Anyway, I hope that you find TPK-LIST useful. Please read TPK-LIST.INF
and all of the "Help" pages before using TPK-LIST. I would be grateful for
any feedback or comments on my programme. If you have any problems using
TPK-LIST then send me a message via packet radio.
