Well, TPK doesn't do that. When you initiate a forwarding session, it
first checks to see if you have any outgoing messages, then it connects and
sends those. After that, it disconnects, waits a few secs then reconnects
and downloads any mail or bullitens (assuming any have been tagged for
downloading). Sometimes, if I had been using the BBS for other stuff and
then wanted to start downloading, I used a trick to fool TPK into thinking
it wasn't connected so it would start a connect (which the TNC would
complain about of course) and then by hitting ENTER the BBS responded with
another prompt and it would start uploading or downloading. However, this
wasn't the case this time.
Most of the time TPK is just left to do it's message forwarding at it's own
timed intervals, so whether or not is has to do two sessions each time is
not important.
