Thanks to all who replied to my inquiry re TPK time zone. I now have it
working OK. It needs TZ=XXX-10 in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Where XXX can be
any characters including spaces. -10 is for -10 hours. It does NOT work with
less than 3 letters before the number. Part of the problem in finding out if
it was working was that the on screen clock remains at DOS time. A message
sent from the in-built editor however, has the time stamp in UTC. This is
probably the best way to have it set up.
In the interim I have also written a little programme that changes the
DOS clock forwards or backwards any number of hours/minutes that you like
as long as the changed time/date is between 1980 and 2099.
So I now have two ways to get the time stamp right.
